

MUSCAT: As part of national efforts to promote environmental sustainability, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in cooperation with be’ah, organised a specialised workshop titled “Industrial and Hazardous Waste Management” on May 17 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The workshop was held in alignment with Oman Sustainability Week, reflecting the Sultanate of Oman’s continued commitment to advancing circular economy initiatives, improving resource management efficiency, and minimising the environmental impact of industrial and hazardous waste.
The workshop brought together leading government entities and industry stakeholders, highlighting key topics such as the current landscape of industrial and hazardous waste management in Oman, be’ah’s capabilities in this field, and the application of circular economy practices within the industrial and energy sectors.
A dedicated brainstorming session, facilitated by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, provided a platform to address existing challenges and explore future opportunities to enhance the national waste management framework and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders.
Participating organisations, including Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Oman LNG, presented their experiences in implementing best practices in hazardous waste management, demonstrating a shared commitment to sustainability and regulatory compliance.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion session, enabling participants to exchange insights and develop recommendations to support the advancement of national policies and practices in this vital sector.
